Who is the #1 High School Lacrosse Recruit?

Owen Duffy, Matt Jeffery, and more.

Good morning.

I’m Jake and this is Recruit Report presented by Apex Lacrosse Events.

I’m your friend who tells you everything you need to know about high school lacrosse.

Apex just opened up applications for the Apex 60 Showcase.

Over 600 ALUMNI are now playing college lacrosse, and there’s over 80 college lacrosse coaches attending.

Spots are closing soon, and you can fill out an interest form here.

Now, let’s get into it!

McCabe Millon vs. Owen Duffy: Who is the #1 Recruit?

There’s been a bit of a shakeup in the lacrosse recruiting world.

IL just announced the top 100 incoming freshman in college lacrosse, and a new name appeared at the top of the list: Owen Duffy.

The UNC freshman worked his way up from his initial ranking of #5 back when he was a junior in 2021, and he’s developed quite the resume since then.

In his 2023 senior season, he led St. Anthony’s to a third-straight conference title and was named the national high school lacrosse player of the year.

In his first scrimmage wearing a UNC uniform, he dropped 7 points against Ohio State in a scrimmage.

With 2 more loaded recruiting classes on the way, look for Duffy and UNC to do big things in college lacrosse in the next few years.

The Nation’s Top Lacrosse Recruit is Also Playing Power 5 College Football

Matt Jeffery isn’t your average high school athlete.

In the fall, he dominates in football as Cheshire’s starting quarterback. In the winter, he runs the basketball court as the school’s starting point guard. In the spring, he leads the lacrosse team as their do-it-all midfielder

Jeffery is the #1 or #2 lacrosse recruit in the ‘24 class depending on who you ask. Notre Dame snatched him up just 11 days after his recruiting window opened.

But this week, Jeffery announced he’ll be joining the Irish for football and lacrosse.

Will Jeffery make an immediate impact on the football team just like Jordan Faison? (Faison is IL’s #48 2023 recruit, and he’s also a star player on the Notre Dame football team) We’ll have to find out next year…

Featured Recruit: Trey Deere

There’s a lot to like about the #5 incoming freshman in college lacrosse.

Deere is a hard-nosed attackman who has a toughness and flair unlike most high school lacrosse recruits I’ve seen.

In one highlight, you’ll see him throwing a ridiculous behind-the-back, only for the next highlight to be him getting in a fight in box lacrosse.

He spent the summer playing box lacrosse with his teammate Joey Spallina, and I predict they’ll make a deadly combination for Syracuse this spring.

His highlights are on repeat for me this week!

Remember, every week we feature a recruit. Respond to this email to nominate a player!

Talk to you soon.

P.S. Make sure to fill out an interest form before the Apex 60 Showcase before spots close.

Best,

Jake

Do you think it's easier or harder to play lacrosse? In the last 20 years, stick technology has improved, but so has the competition.
