The #1 Team in High School Lacrosse IS…

How to be a great teammate, Hansen Peck, and more.

Good morning,

I’m Jake and this is Recruit Report presented by Apex Lacrosse Events.

I’m your friend who tells you everything you need to know about lacrosse.

Due to high demand, Apex has opened a new Showcase on July 8th: The Garden State Showcase.

You can apply by clicking this link.

Over 1,500 Apex Alumni are now playing college lacrosse, and there’s over 80 college lacrosse coaches attending.

Spots are closing soon, so make sure you fill out an application.

Now, let’s get into it!

The #1 Team in High School Lacrosse

High school lacrosse is finally here, and there’s one team starting at the top: Lawrenceville. The Big Red were unanimously ranked the #1 team by Inside Lacrosse and USA Lacrosse.

Jon Posner’s squad had a breakout year in 2023, going 19-1 and finishing as the #1 team in the nation. In 2024, they’re looking to defend their top spot.

Although they graduated impactful seniors like Hunter Chuavette and Quintan Kilrain, they reload with a scary team that’s ready to prove itself (more on that later).

How to Be a Great Teammate This Spring

When you’re on a lacrosse team, it’s not enough to be a good player. You need to learn how to be a good teammate. These skills will carry you throughout the rest of your lacrosse career and beyond. Here are 3 ways to be a great teammate this spring;

  1. Early is On-Time: One thing you can do to make your coaches and teammates’ job significantly easier is being early to everything. Whether it’s practice, pre-game warmups, film studies, etc., make it a goal this year to never be late.

  1. Be the Supportive Teammate: There’s nothing worse than a teammate who’s only thinking about himself. Instead, players love teammates who do whatever they can for the team. That could mean playing d-middie this year because a freshman took your spot at attack, or cheering after every goal from the sideline. No matter what, go all-in for your team this year.

  1. Practice Optimism: Did you have a bad practice? Did you miss the game-winning shot? No matter what the circumstance is, you have the opportunity to practice optimism. That doesn’t mean ignoring ways you can improve, it means being hopeful and positive about the future. Make it your mission this year to never get too down on yourself.

Lawrenceville graduated one of the best players in program history in Hunter Chauvette last year.

Well now, a new lefty sharpshooter has the keys to the offense: Hansen Peck.

The 5’10 lefty has a beautiful lefty shooting stroke, but calling him just a shooter would be a disservice to his game.

Peck is a very capable dodger, using his quick first step and change of direction to create his own shot.

With all eyes on Lawrenceville this year, expect Peck to dominate in his role as the leader of the offense.

See you next time!

Jake

P.S. remember to fill out an application for the Garden State Showcase!
