The MOST ATHLETIC in High School Lacrosse: Dylan Faison

Syracuse lacrosse is back, Cormac Scane, and more.

Good morning,

I’m Jake and this is Recruit Report presented by Apex Lacrosse Events.

I’m your friend who tells you everything you need to know about lacrosse.

Did you know Apex has a goalie and faceoff only showcase July 22 & 23rd?

The Faceoff Summit is led by Joe Nardella. You can apply here.

The Goalie Summit is led by Kyle Bernlohr. You can apply here.

Both the events combine elite level instruction with 20+ college programs on staff!

Now, let’s get into it!

Dylan Faison Commits to Notre Dame

If you’ve been following college lacrosse and college football this year, chances are you’ve heard of Jordan Faison. The 5’10 middie from Florida walked onto the Notre Dame football team this year and was named the MVP of the Sun Bowl. Now, he’s the highest scoring midfielder on the Irish lacrosse team with 16 points in 6 games.

The scariest part is, there’s a younger Faison that might have even more potential. His name is Dylan, and the sophomore just committed to Notre Dame to play football, with interest in walking on the lacrosse team.

Rumor has it that Dylan Faison and Ethan Bramoff are the two players gunning for the #1 spot in the class of 2026. With plenty of games left this spring and a full summer circuit, we’ll have to see who earns the coveted number one position.

Syracuse Lacrosse is Officially Back?

The decade between 2010-2020 was not the happiest for Syracuse lacrosse. The Orange only made one national championship appearance and had 5 first round playoff exits.

This was not the dominant powerhouse program lacrosse fans were used to seeing, and in 2022, the athletic administration decided to make a change

They brought in head coach Gary Gait, arguably the greatest lacrosse player of all time, to see if he could turn the ship around. In his first two years, things were not pretty. A combined record of 12-17 left Orange faithful confused and discouraged

In 2024, it looks like the Orange are starting to get over the hump. It started on March 9th with a win vs. Johns Hopkins, the program’s first top 5 win with Gary Gait as its head coach.

But this Wednesday, the Orange proved to the lacrosse world that they’re here to stay. They beat Duke 10-4, in what is certainly the most impressive defensive performance of any college lacrosse team this year.

Syracuse had the tall task of stopping an attack line of Brennan O’Neill, Dyson Williams, and Josh Zwada - 3 players who could all be top 10 picks in a professional lacrosse draft.

To hold Duke’s offense to 4 goals in a quarter would be something to be happy with; to hold them to that number in the entire game is insane.

Orange goalie Will Mark (an unranked recruit out of high school) stood on his head with a 77% save percentage. They’re quarterbacked on offense by Joey Spallina, the #1 recruit in the class of 2022.

Are we witnessing the turnaround of Syracuse lacrosse?

The sport of lacrosse is in Cormac’s veins. His older sister Izzy is the best D1 women’s college lacrosse player, and his brother Griffin is a sophomore on the Penn lacrosse team.

The 2-way middie from Michigan makes plays all over the field. In one clip of his highlights, he’s finishing a low-angle shot from the wing, and in the very next clip, he’s making a stop on the defensive end of the field.

If Scane keeps it up, I think he’s going to be a huge asset to any team. His game reminds me of Ryan Conrad with how versatile he is on both sides of the field.

As always, nominate yourself or another player to be featured.

Talk soon,

Jake

P.S. remember to fill out an application for the Garden State Showcase!
