The Best Daily Routine for Lacrosse Players in 2024

The best habits, Tehoka Nanticoke, and more.

Good morning and happy new year.

I’m Jake and this is Recruit Report presented by Apex Lacrosse Events.

I’m your friend who tells you everything you need to know about high school lacrosse.

Spots for Apex 60 Showcase are almost full.

Over 650 ALUMNI are now playing college lacrosse, and there’s over 80 college lacrosse coaches attending.

Spots are closing soon, and you can fill out an interest form here.

Now, let’s get into it!

The Best Daily Routine for Lacrosse Players in 2024

2024 is finally here, and lacrosse season is just a month away. Right now, your focus should be building the habits and routines you need to consistently be at your best this season.

Here are 5 factors to help you build the perfect daily routine

  1. Wake Up Time: One of the best things you can do for your body is wake up at the same time every day. We all know it feels better when we’re consistent, instead of waking up super early one day and sleeping in the next.

  2. Hydration: Studies show your work capacity can decrease by up to 30% if you’re dehydrated. If you don’t have a refillable water bottle you can carry with you, get one.

  3. School: It’s nice to have a clean slate of classes heading into the new year. I’m not here to tell you how to study, but I do know the best lacrosse players take care of what they need to do in the classroom.

  4. Stickwork: Your goal should be to do at least 5-10 minutes of stickwork every day. It could be as simple as cradling the ball in your house, or going out to do wallball. Your stick should feel like a part of your body heading into this season.

  5. Night Time Routine: What you do before you go to bed will completely impact your next day. Scrolling TikTok for 5 hours (unless you’re watching Apex videos) is not a recipe for success. Create a simple routine you do before bed so you’re always feeling ready for tomorrow.

The Top 5 Recruits of 2017. Where Are They Now?

As we bring in the new year and look forward to this lacrosse season, it’s also fun to reflect on the past. Today, I’m looking at the top recruits from the 2017 class.

#5 Connor DeSimone: Connor had one of the nastiest high school highlight tapes of all time, and he took his talents to Johns Hopkins. He started every game of his Blue Jays career, spending most of his time at midfield. He saved his best season for last, scoring 45 points in his final season. He’s currently on the newly-formed Denver Outlaws roster in the PLL.

#4 Matt Moore: Moore made an immediate impact at UVA in 2017, winning ACC freshman of the year. He went on the lead the Cavs to 2 national championships, graduating as one of the greatest players in program history. He just won a championship with the Utah Archers in the PLL.

#3 Arden Cohen: Cohen joined the most talented defense in college lacrosse, and he took it to the next level. Arden started every game of his college career from freshman to senior year, and he graduated as one of the best defenseman in program history. Now, he’s with the California Redwoods in the PLL.

#2 Bubba Fairman: Bubba started every game of his college lacrosse career on the first midfield line. Then his coach asked him to use his 5th year of eligibility to play defensive middie, a role that he absolutely thrived in. He helped the Terps win a national championship, then got drafted to play for the Boston Cannons in the PLL, and is widely considered to be one of the best SSDMs in the game.

#1 Tehoka Nanticoke: Tehoka entered the college lacrosse world as one of the most hyped recruits ever for his jaw-dropping high school highlight reel. He took his talents to Albany, where he scored 82 points as a freshman and looked like one of the best players in the world. Now, he’s a mainstay on the Buffalo Bandits in the NLL and just won a championship.

Wow…I gotta say this was a pretty loaded class! Which one should I cover next?

I don’t think there’s a cooler first clip on a lacrosse highlight reel than this.

Adam takes his defender behind the goal, trips him up, and makes the cage flip on its side.

This is a perfect demonstration of his raw speed, which he uses to cash in easy goals with either hand.

He’s also an excellent basketball player, and you can see the translation from the court to the field with his footwork.

As always, his highlights are on repeat for me this week!

Remember, every week we feature a recruit. Respond to this email to nominate a player!

Talk to you soon.

P.S. Make sure to fill out an interest form before the Apex 60 Showcase before spots close.

Best,

Jake
