The BEST SHOOTER in High School Lacrosse IS...
Hunter Metz, James Holbrough, and more.
Good morning,
I’m Jake and this is Recruit Report presented by Apex Lacrosse Events.
I’m your friend who tells you everything you need to know about lacrosse.
Due to high demand, Apex has opened a new Showcase on July 8th: The Garden State Showcase.
You can apply by clicking this link.
Over 1,500 Apex Alumni are now playing college lacrosse, and there’s over 80 college lacrosse coaches attending.
Spots are closing soon, so make sure you fill out an application.
Now, let’s get into it!
Lacrosse Recruits You NEED to Watch This Week:
Hunter Metz, Attack (2026) - McDonough, MD
In a class full of talented lefty shooters, Hunter Metz might be the best one. The attackman from Maryland dropped 22 goals as a freshman on McDonough’s Varsity team.
Making that team as a freshman is an accomplishment in itself; scoring 22 goals in your first year is on a different level.
The 6’1, 190 lb attackman makes a living off-ball on the lefty wing, but he’s also skilled enough to create his own shot or find an open teammate.
If he has another big year in the MIAA, he’ll be in the mix as one of the best attackmen in the entire class.
Nathan Zander, Attack (2026) - Culver Military Academy, IN
At 5’7 and 155 pounds, Zander isn’t the biggest or strongest out there. But he almost reminds me of lacrosse legend Joey Sankey with how he’s able to “slip” past defenders and find ways to score goals.
He’s not afraid to shoot it backhanded, and he will often punish defenders who force him to his left with a low-angle backhanded shot.
If he stays consistent with a strength and conditioning program and continues to compete at a high level, I expect big things from this Midwest lacrosse recruit.
James Holbrough, Attack (2027) - Berkshire, MA
There’s one word that I came away with when watching this highlight tape: shifty.
It seems like Holbrough never stops moving; finding a way to sneak past defenders who are draped all over his hands. His game reminds me of former #1 recruit Owen Duffy, and the YouTube comments section agrees.
I think we’ll see a massive year out of James this spring.
Jameson Foglesong, Attack (2026) - Avon Old Farms, CT
Foglesong gets a spot on the all-name team, and he has the game to back it up.
He might have the best first step of any player on this list; just watch about 50 seconds into his highlight reel to see what I’m talking about.
Jameson makes a living with his jumpshot, and I’m excited to see how he progresses as a passer and a dodger from X.
Milki Conway-Reppert, Attack (2026) - Loomis Chaffee, CT
Milki already wins my lacrosse all-name team by a country mile.
But when you watch his highlight tape, you realize he’s a very special player.
He’s only 5’8, but he plays much “bigger” than that. He uses his high lacrosse IQ and athleticism to make defenders pay.
One of his best attributes is his two-handedness. You’ll see him throw a behind the back lefty, then throw a jump shot righty on the very next play.
The sophomore from Loomis has a ton of upside, and I’m excited to see his game progress over these next few years.
Which lacrosse recruits should I cover next?
Quick Notes
I’m reacting to highlight reels - which only show me the best moments from a player’s games. These videos don’t show us a complete picture, and we understand that.
This is purely for fun - we understand there are a ton of talented players still to be covered. Please nominate them!
See you next time!
Jake
P.S. remember to fill out an application for the Garden State Showcase!
