College Lacrosse Coach Reveals His Recruiting Secrets...

How to get recruited to play college lacrosse.

/

Good morning,

I’m Jake and this is Recruit Report presented by Apex Lacrosse Events.

I’m your friend who tells you everything you need to know about lacrosse.

Apex is already accepting applications for their Fall National Showcase, October 12 & 13, spots for this event fill out every year so be sure to apply!

Now, let’s get into it!

The Secret to Getting Recruited to Play College Lacrosse

When a D1 lacrosse coach from a national championship team speaks about recruiting, I listen.

This week, I listened to a podcast between Quint Kessinich and Ryan Wellner, an assistant coach for Notre Dame.

Quint asked Ryan a simple but profound question: “when there’s 3 or 4 recruits who you’re trying to choose between, what’s the tiebreaker quality that makes the difference?”

Coach Wellner said two words that tell you everything you need to know: “compete level.”

He goes onto explain, “Winning and losing has been devalued a bit at the club level. When it’s 98 degrees and recruits on a random turf field with no trees or breeze, are they still competing? Even if their skill level drops, are they running a shot out or competing for a ground ball?”

Whenever you step on a field the rest of the summer, make a pact to yourself that you’ll compete every second you’re on the field.

If you can do this, you’re giving yourself the greatest chance of being recruited if that’s your goal.

Ethan Bramoff Officially Named the #1 Recruit by NLF

NLF named St. Anthony’s LSM Ethan Bramoff as the #1 player in the class of 2026 rankings and a five-star recruit.

The 6’, 190 pound beast plays more like a long stick attackman than an LSM, finding plenty of time on the offensive end of the field.

He earned valuable minutes for St. Anthony’s as a sophomore this spring, which is no easy feat considering the depth of talent at the Friars’ disposal.

His phone will be ringing off the hook on September 1st, and it’s going to be exciting to see where he ends up.

When I flipped on Kaden’s highlight reel, I thought I had his game figured out pretty quickly.

The first three clips feature 3 pure lefty wing shots, but the fourth clip is where things get interesting.

After rolling back to his strong left hand and looking like he’s about to turn the corner, Baron switches to his weak right hand and buries a fadeaway righty shot that left me very impressed.

The rest of his highlight reel goes on to show that he’s not just a lefty shooter; he also has great vision and sense for the game that makes him a complete threat.

The 5’10 attackman from Minnesota has a few months left before his recruiting window opens, and I’m curious to see how things will shake out!

Keep nominating yourself! We’ll keep featuring recruits every week. Email [email protected] with a link to your our highlight reel and a writeup. We can’t guarantee a response, but we try to open/read as many as we can!

Talk soon,

Jake

P.S. remember to fill out an application for the Garden State Showcase.
