The Greatest High School Lacrosse Team Ever?

Boys Latin, Haverford, and more.

Good morning,

I’m Jake and this is Recruit Report presented by Apex Lacrosse Events.

I’m your friend who tells you everything you need to know about lacrosse.

Apex is already accepting applications for their Fall National Showcase, October 12 & 13, spots for this event fill out every year so be sure to apply!

Now, let’s get into it!

Is THIS the Greatest High School Lacrosse Team Ever?

At Apex HQ we’ve been trying to settle the debate: who is the greatest high school team ever?

Here’s a few in our running:

2013 Boys Latin: Pat Spencer was on the JV roster - that’s how good this team was! The roster was stacked with D1 talent including an attack line of Shack Stanwick (Johns Hopkins), Colin Heacock (Maryland) and Colin Chell (Ohio State). The Lakers lost a heartbreaker in their final game against Loyola Blakefield in the MIAA finals.

2015 Haverford: An absolutely dominant program that went 26-0 against nearly every powerhouse school you could think of (St. Anthony’s, McDonough, etc.) with an offense featuring Grant Ament (Penn State) and Dox Aitken (Virginia). Imagine finishing a day of high school class and having to match up against those two.

2019 Calvert Hall: The MIAA conference is widely regarded as one of the, if not THE hardest conference in the nation. To win the conference championship is a huge deal, and only a few schools have ever won it twice in a row. But Calvert Hall is in a league of its own as the only MIAA team to win the conference three straight times, a feat accomplished by the 2019 team featuring players like Truitt Sunderland (Virginia) and Daniel Kelly (Maryland).

2026 Players to Watch

The 2026 class is heating up, and it’s almost time for summer where the rising juniors will have one last chance to impress college coaches before September 1st.

I’ve covered a lot of great 2026s on this newsletter already (guys like Ethan Bramoff) and here’s a few more on my watch list:

Matt Colella, Midfield

There’s a lot to love about Matt’s game.

First of all, he has eye-popping physicality: at 6’3, 180 pounds, he’s already bigger and stronger than most of his peers. It’s no wonder he made Brunswick’s varsity team as a freshman last year.

But he doesn’t just rely on his size; Matt has an excellent split dodge and shot on the run. If he can continue to develop a passing ability, the sky is the limit for this recruit.

Blake O’Callaghan, Goalie

Blake’s highlight reel really caught my eye - he seems like a goalie that can “steal goals” off the board which is huge for any team.

If he can have a big summer, I think he’ll be one of the best goalies in his class.

Ethan Moore, Attack/Midfield

Ethan is a player can slot in at the attack or midfield position, but I love seeing him up top as a middie.

At midfield, he can dodge you in space and get to a great on the field with either hand and bury it. His two-handedness really sticks out to me, as it’s rare someone has a truly dangerous off-handed shot.

I’m excited to see how the New Hampshire native’s game plays out this summer. Will he stay close to home and take a chance on up-and-coming Dartmouth?
