You still have time, Ethan Goldberg, and more.

Good morning,

I’m Jake and this is Recruit Report presented by Apex Lacrosse Events.

I’m your friend who tells you everything you need to know about lacrosse.

Did you know Apex has a goalie and faceoff only showcase July 22 & 23rd?

Apex is already accepting applications for their Fall National Showcase, October 12 & 13, spots for this event fill out every year so be sure to apply!

Both the events combine elite level instruction with 20+ college programs on staff!

BY THE WAY, next week we’re featuring recruits that are nominated through this newsletter! To nominate yourself or a player, email me: [email protected] with your highlight reel.

Now, let’s get into it!

Mid-Season Check-In

It’s crazy to think that we’re almost done with March. It feels like yesterday that we were starting the season, and now some high school games are 10+ games into the season.

No matter where you are in your lacrosse season, here are 3 reminders:

  1. You Still Have Time! Every day I get emails from players disappointed with their performance on the field. When you’re not playing as great as you hoped, it’s easy to get down on yourself. But guess what? We’re midway through the season! There’s still plenty of season left to turn things around and finish off the year strong. Don’t let performance in the first half of the season affect the rest of this season.

  1. Strength/Weakness Assessment: I want you to do a quick analysis of your lacrosse game up until this point. I have two questions for you:

    1. What is 1 strength that you’ll “double down” on? For example, if you have an incredible split dodge, figure out a way to get in more spots to do a split dodge when you’re in a game.

    2. What is 1 weakness that you’ll improve on? For example, if you’re a liability with your left hand, make a goal to spend 10 minutes extra every day on the wall.

  1. Remember Why You’re Playing: As someone who’s finished my lacrosse career, there’s something I wish I could tell my younger self: you only have so many seasons to play lacrosse, so enjoy the journey. Whether you’re the varsity starter or fighting for any playing time, the thrill of playing on a lacrosse team is truly special. Take it from us, have fun and be grateful for the ride!

Quinnipiac was the last undefeated D1 lacrosse team standing coming into this week, and they just got knocked off by their conference rival Manhattan on Wednesday.

Now, every team in D1 lacrosse has at least one loss. This college lacrosse season feels different than years past: any team has the chance to win it.

Will we witness an under-the-radar team make a run at championship weekend? Or will a powerhouse program take home the trophy on Memorial Day?

Ethan’s name was nominated, so I had to give his highlights a watch. (to nominate a player, email me [email protected]).

When you watch him play, you’ll quickly realize why Goldberg could be a top FOGO in his class. The sophomore from New York has extremely quick hands, and he has the stats to back it up.

He had a whopping 74% win rate as a freshman, good for 4th in Nassau county, one of the most competitive areas of lacrosse in Long Island

If he can continue to dominate this spring and summer, I expect big things in September.

As always, nominate yourself or another player to be featured: [email protected]

Talk soon,

Jake

P.S. remember to fill out an application for the Garden State Showcase!
