Now, let’s get into it!

Reacting to Your Highlight Reels!

Last week I asked you to nominate players to be featured in the Recruit Report!

And let’s just say, you all did not disappoint.

We received countless highlight reels (too many to watch), and it made my job tough of who to pick this week.

Keep nominating yourself! We’ll keep featuring recruits every week. Email [email protected] with a link to y our highlight reel and a writeup.

Connor Ward (Attack/Midfield, Class of 2026)

When I turned on Connor’s highlight reel, I immediately thought of Chris Gray. Maybe it’s because Ward was wearing the #4, but I couldn’t help but see a ton of similarities in their games.

Connor isn’t the biggest or the strongest, but he has incredible stick protection and seems to “out think” his defenders and score lots of goals.

Out of any player nominated, he’s the most two-handed I’ve seen. This makes him extra dangerous - allowing him to play and score from anywhere on the field.

Nathan Markowitz (Defense, Class of 2025)

Markowitz is a ground ball vacuum and caused turnover machine. He had 110 caused turnovers and 120 ground balls in his sophomore campaign. No matter what level of lacrosse you’re playing, those are video game numbers for a defenseman.

The 6’0, 175 pound defender from Ohio really impressed me - his stick is always active and he throws quick and accurate checks.

If he can continue to develop his athleticism and explosiveness, I could see him being a late pickup for a great college lacrosse program.

Aaron Pressman (FOGO, Class of 2026)

My favorite quality in a FOGO is grit: someone who will do almost anything to scrap and get the ball for their team. Aaron Pressman has this quality in spades, and he has the stats and accolades to back it up.

The 5’9, 178 pound beast from outside of Chicago is one of the most impressive FOGOs I’ve seen in the class. He has super quick hands and will often be seen falling down or diving for a ball.

With the rest of this spring and the summer to prove himself, I think Pressman is on the right track to playing high level college lacrosse if he want sto.

Andrew High (Class of 2026)

The ability for a player to slot in at attack or midfield is becoming more and more valuable as teams implement “positionless” offenses. Andrew High slots in perfectly to both positions.

The 6’3, 180 pound offensive specialist reminds me of Jackson Morill - tall, lanky, and cerebral on the field. He never seems in a rush when dodging, and his head is always scanning the field waiting for an opportunity.

I’d love him to continue developing an “explosive” element to his game: sometimes you want to see a player’s ability to speed dodge and take it straight to the rack.

Colton Wagner (Class of 2027)

In the three minutes I spent watching his highlight reel, I might have found the most versatile high school lacrosse player in the country.

In one clip, this guy was playing lock down close defense, in the next clip, he was playing like an LSM in transition, and in the next clip, he was dodging like an offensive midfielder

It’s hard not to like a guy who can slot in anywhere you need him to, and Wagner does just that. As he continues to play higher levels of lacrosse, I’m curious to see if he’ll “specialize” or if he can keep playing at an extremely high level at multiple positions.

As always, nominate yourself or another player to be featured: [email protected]

Talk soon,

Jake

P.S. remember to fill out an application for the Garden State Showcase!
