REACTING to YOUR Lacrosse Highlight Reels (Part 4)
The talent just keeps getting better.
Good morning,
I’m Jake and this is Recruit Report presented by Apex Lacrosse Events.
I’m your friend who tells you everything you need to know about lacrosse.
Apex is already accepting applications for their Fall National Showcase, October 12 & 13, spots for this event fill out every year so be sure to apply!
Now, let’s get into it!
You NEED to See this Graph
When you’re a lacrosse player, there’s times you feel extremely motivated.
Maybe it’s right now because summer is here and you’re motivated to impress college lacrosse coaches on the sidelines.
Maybe it’s before the season because you can’t wait for games to start.
When you feel this type of motivation, you start training harder and sacrificing more to make sure you’re at the top of your game.
But then after a few weeks, it’s easy to lose that motivation. When it’s the 3rd game of a tournament on a hot summer day, your motivation goes down.
That’s where discipline steps in. In the Cambridge dictionary, it’s defined as:
“the ability to control yourself… even in difficult situations.”
It’s not motivation that makes great lacrosse players, it’s discipline. It’s doing the things you have to do even when you don’t want to do them.
Tell yourself today: “even when I’m not motivated this summer, I’m going to be disciplined.”
Reacting to Your Highlight Reels (Part 4)
We’ve received even more highlight reels (too many to watch), and it made my job so tough of who to pick this week.
Keep nominating yourself! We’ll keep featuring recruits every week. Email [email protected] with a link to your our highlight reel and a writeup. We can’t guarantee a response, but we try to open/read as many as we can!
Colin Faherty (Attack, Class of 2027)
The first thing that jumps off the page for me is Colin’s low angle shooting ability.
He uses his head and shoulders to deceive goalies and finish from angles that most people simply couldn’t, and he’s doing this as a freshman.
He also has great vision and seems happy to get his teammates involved just as much as scoring which makes him a dual threat.
If he can continue to develop his strength and footspeed, I’m excited to see where his game takes him.
Michael Santillo (Attack, Class of 2027)
I’m a sucker for a middie who can shoot on the run, has great vision and can play in transition.
Well good news…Michael does all 3.
The sophomore from East Syracuse, NY put up an impressive 40 goals and 29 assists this year, and I expect those numbers to go even higher next year.
He’s able to get separation from his defenders and bury shots on the run, but he also finds open teammates for easy shots.
This is the first time he’s popped up on my radar, but I’m excited to see what summer he puts together in preparation for the recruiting window.
As always, nominate yourself or another player to be featured: [email protected]
Talk soon,
Jake
P.S. remember to fill out an application for the Garden State Showcase.
