Is UNC Lacrosse Back?

More commits, UNC is back, and more.

Good morning.

I’m Jake and this is Recruit Report presented by Apex Lacrosse Events.

I’m your friend who tells you everything you need to know about high school lacrosse.

Apex just opened up applications for the Apex 60 Showcase.

Over 600 ALUMNI are now playing college lacrosse, and there’s over 50 college lacrosse coaches attending.

Spots are closing soon, and you can fill out an interest form here.

Now, let’s get into it!

The College Lacrosse Recruiting Battle Continues

High school lacrosse recruits are committing left and right. Every college program is competing to get the country’s best:

  • PLL star Asher Nolting’s brother Ollie Nolting committed to Johns Hopkins. The #45 player in the country is joined by 4-stars Dashielle Lamitie and Jay Rodgers. Hopkins is officially back as one of the country’s premier programs.

  • Duke snagged IL’s #11 recruit with Gavin Cooper, a big defenseman from Haverford. The Blue Devils also snatched up 3 more top 50 recruits in Will Tantillo, Owen Mears and Brady Scioletti.

  • Princeton is making a strong case for one of the best classes with four 4-star recruits in Tucker Speiss, Parker Reynolds, Matthew Gianetti and Russ Fitzgerald.

Is UNC Lacrosse Back?

Last week we talked about Darmouth being the next college lacrosse bandwagon. Well another train you might want to hop on is the UNC train.

UNC snagged IL’s #7 and #30 2025 recruits in Luke Bair and Josh Marcus, along with a pair of talented 4-stars in Nate Sage and Harrison Schline.

They also have #4 ‘23 recruit Owen Duffy coming in this fall, and #9 ‘24 recruit Caden Harshbarger coming the next.

That’s 3 classes in a row with a top 10 recruit in the nation. Not bad, Joe Breschi!

This doesn’t surprise me in the slightest. UNC is one of the best academic schools in the country, while also having a big D1 sports atmosphere and warmer weather compared to other D1 schools.

Let’s see if UNC’s recruiting push can pay off when it comes to the college lacrosse playoffs.

Featured Recruit: Will Tantillo

Will is the #1 ranked SSDM in the class of 2025.

His high school coach said “I feel bad when other teams try to dodge on him.”

Having Tantillo on the field is like having an extra defenseman on the field. This creates a HUGE matchup advantage for whatever team he plays on.

Tantillo recently committed to Duke, where I think he could get significant playing time as a freshman.

His highlights are on repeat for me this week.

Remember, every week we feature a recruit. Respond to this email to nominate a player!

Talk to you soon.

P.S. Make sure to fill out an interest form before the Apex 60 Showcase before spots close.

Best,

Jake
