UNRANKED High School Recruit to #1 PLL Draft Pick
This lacrosse story is insane.
/
Good morning,
I’m Jake and this is Recruit Report presented by Apex Lacrosse Events.
I’m your friend who tells you everything you need to know about lacrosse.
Apex 24-25 Events Applications are open! Apply to Multiple Showcases with this Streamlined Application.
Now, let’s get into it!
This Player’s Journey to Lacrosse Greatness is Insane…
Gavin Adler.
You might know him as one of the best defenders in the world, anchoring the Atlas defense that’s currently the top team in the PLL.
He was the number one overall pick in the 2023 PLL College Draft.
Before that, he had a decorated career at Cornell as a first team All-American and Schmeisser Defensive Player of the Year.
But before that, he was cut from his sophomore club lacrosse team.
Let that sink in for second…
For most players, getting cut from a club team halfway into a high school lacrosse career would be devastating.
At that point, most would probably give up on their hopes to play college lacrosse, or just coast for the rest of their lacrosse career.
But Gavin Adler is no ordinary lacrosse player.
With the help of his coaches, teammates, and work ethic, he transformed himself into a completely different player.
By senior year, Cornell offered him a spot after they saw his highlight tape, and the rest is history.
Next time you’re feeling discouraged about where you’re at in your college lacrosse career, think back to Gavin Adler.
Featured Recruit: Owen Crann (Class of 2025)
The 4-star recruit from Mass was originally committed to Penn, but he just made a huge splash and switched his commitment to UVA.
The crafty attackman seems to “slip by” defenders and find a way to get a shot off.
Oh, and he’s not afraid to do a backflip celebration either…
Keep nominating yourself! We’ll keep featuring recruits every week. Email [email protected] with a link to your our highlight reel and a writeup. We can’t guarantee a response, but we try to open/read as many as we can!
