UVA vs. Notre Dame: Who Has the Better Class?
Brendan Millon, Don't Sleep on Penn, and more.
Good morning.
I’m Jake and this is Recruit Report presented by Apex Lacrosse Events.
I’m your friend who tells you everything you need to know about high school lacrosse.
Apex just opened up applications for the Apex 60 Showcase.
Over 600 ALUMNI are now playing college lacrosse, and there’s over 50 college lacrosse coaches attending.
Spots are closing soon, and you can fill out an interest form here.
Now, let’s get into it!
Brendan Millon Commits to UVA
The #1 recruit took his time. Narrowing his choice between Maryland, Notre Dame, Hopkins and UVA, Millon ultimately decided on the Wahoos.
In the first few weeks of September, Virginia was surprisingly not in the top 5 in terms of recruiting talent.
But you know what they say: it’s not how you start, it’s how you finish.
The 2025 Virginia class is now ranked #1 on Inside Lacrosse, just inches ahead of Notre Dame. But that begs the question: who do you think has the better class? (Vote in the poll below!)
Some other takeaways from the commitment:
Millon seriously considered going to Johns Hopkins. It’s impressive how the Blue Jays went from a 4-9 season in 2021, to a 12-6 season in 2023 and a top 10 2025 recruiting class.
I’m not surprised Duke wasn’t in the running - as Brendan’s brother McCabe first committed there before switching to Virginia.
If Millon would’ve committed to Notre Dame, it might be one of the most dominant recruiting classes ever in terms of ranked recruits.
More 2025 Recruits Fly Off the Board
It’s crazy to think it’s been over a month since September 1st, but that hasn’t stopped the craziness from going on:
Maryland’s recruiting class is heating up with #16 ‘25 recruit Matthew Higgins committing. The Terps are sitting at #5 in the rankings as I write this.
Michigan cracked the top 10 in recruiting class rankings with a whopping nine 4-star recruits. The class is headlined by #39 ‘25 recruit Bryce Lyden.
Penn head coach Mike Murphy might be the best recruiter in college lacrosse. It probably helps to have arguably the #1 business school in the world. The Quakers have a top 6 recruiting class headlined by #3 ‘25 recruit Jackson Maher.
Featured Recruit: Reece Childs
Speaking of Penn lacrosse, here’s a recruit you need to remember: Reece Childs.
The 5’10 righty from Haverford has one of the best on the run shots I’ve seen in awhile. It looks like he’s shot out of a cannon every time he touches the field.
If you’re trying to get better at outside shooting or shooting on the run, this is your guy.
His highlights are on repeat for me this week.
Remember, every week we feature a recruit. Respond to this email to nominate a player!
Talk to you soon.
P.S. Make sure to fill out an interest form before the Apex 60 Showcase before spots close.
Best,
Jake
